An innovative, author-friendly book publisher

Home: Welcome

At Good Stories, we are driven by two factors.

1st -  We publish books that inspire.

2nd - We work with authors and storytellers who want to change the world.

Our platform offers both experienced authors and those new to the craft the opportunity to publish without all the politics and complications of working with a big publisher.

By advocating for our storytellers and authors, we are able to put truly good stories in the hands of people who want them.

That's our promise to both author and reader.

David Haznaw is a full-time writer/author, as well as an amateur musician, sports fan, husband and father. He loves the craft of storytelling and writes in a way that takes you into the mind of the main character, which is often himself. Over the past 25 years, he has written and produced video content and other corporate communications projects for clients across the United States. In 2019, David published a book of creative nonfiction titled, A YEAR IN WORDS, crafted from his commitment to write an essay every day for an entire year.

Bishop Ronald Hicks graduated from the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, IL with a B.A. in philosophy in 1989. After graduation, he left for Mexico and volunteered in NPH for one year, where he would meet Father William Wasson, the subject of his book CHANGE THE WORLD. START WITH THE CHILDREN. Upon his return he entered the seminary and was ordained a priest on May 21, 1994 for the Archdiocese of Chicago. He went on to receive his Doctorate in 2003. He worked in a variety of parishes and became the Dean of Formation at St. Joseph College Seminary. In July 2005, with permission from Francis Cardinal George, Father Hicks moved to El Salvador to begin a five-year term as Regional Director of NPH in Central America. On September 17, 2018, Father Hicks was consecrated a bishop by Cardinal Blasé J. Cupich.

Marlene Byrne has been writing her entire life. Professionally, Marlene was the CEO of Celtic Chicago, a full service, advertising agency. While her children were young, she published a series of children’s books focused on stories about backyard games, under the umbrella Project Play. Her partnership with David Haznaw was fostered during their days working together and now they are writing partners. Their new book MUSIC HAS LEGS is a story of triumph about Juan Manuel Pineda, an orphan from El Salvador.
